At The Business Supplies Group, we're proud to support individuals and organisations making a positive difference, and few stories are as inspiring as that of Lexi Chambers.
Recently, our Sales Director, Simon Stokes, and Phil Murphy had the privilege of meeting Lexi and Wayne Hoyle at Exeter Arena to hand over a donation of 250 pairs of Portwest gloves to support Lexi's training and preparation for her next extraordinary challenge.
Watching Lexi train was a powerful experience. Alone on the track, she demonstrated incredible focus, determination, and resilience as she pushed herself through another demanding training session. Despite living with daily pain, her commitment to achieving her goals was evident in every lap.
Lexi Chambers is a military veteran, former nurse, and elective amputee living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a chronic pain condition that affects her daily life.

In March 2027, Lexi will undertake her biggest challenge yet: travelling coast to coast across the United States in her wheelchair.
Starting in San Diego and finishing in Daytona, Lexi will cover an incredible 4,812 kilometres, the equivalent of 115 marathons, raising funds and awareness for military charities in both the UK and the USA.
What makes Lexi's story even more remarkable is her motivation.
She hopes to inspire others to pursue ambitious goals regardless of the challenges they face. She also chooses to complete her challenges in a standard-issue wheelchair rather than specialist racing equipment, demonstrating that determination, perseverance, and mindset can often matter more than expensive equipment.
The challenge will support Team Forces, a UK military charity that helps veterans pursue opportunities, adventures, and personal goals that may otherwise be out of reach.
For someone covering thousands of kilometres in a wheelchair, protecting their hands is essential.

"Gloves are one of the most important pieces of kit for me. One of the first things people do when they meet me and learn about my challenges is check my hands. They're always surprised that I don't have calluses, blisters, or scars.
"I explain that finding the right gloves was a journey, but Portwest has been a game-changer. The gloves allow me to train and race in all weather, keeping my hands in the best possible condition. I am so grateful to The Business Supplies Group and Portwest for arranging this generous donation."

When BSG learned about Lexi's challenge and the importance of having the right gloves for training and competition, we reached out to our trusted workwear partner, Portwest, to see if they could help.
Their response was immediate.

Portwest generously donated 250 pairs of gloves, helping ensure Lexi has access to the equipment she needs as she prepares for her coast-to-coast challenge.
"When I contacted Portwest to explain Lexi's challenge and ask whether they would be willing to help, they didn't hesitate. Their response was immediate, and they were incredibly generous in supporting such a worthwhile cause.
We've worked closely with Portwest for many years and this is a great example of the values they bring as a partner. Their willingness to step forward and support Lexi's journey demonstrates exactly why they are such a fantastic company to work with."

Everyone at BSG and Portwest was incredibly impressed by Lexi's humility, positivity, and determination. Supporting her journey with the donation of 250 pairs of gloves is a small contribution towards what promises to be an incredible achievement.
We look forward to following Lexi's progress over the coming months and sharing updates as she prepares for her coast-to-coast challenge.
